Day 2 Elwha Dam Park to Klahowa

Here is our camp at Elwha Dam RV Park where we started.

Our biking route is given here: http://www.endomondo.com/workouts/sqbqy6b9zFs

On the way out of camp we passed the overlook of the former reservoir that had its dam removed.  This is the first dam of two to be removed which will allow salmon to return to all the Olympic drainage rivers and streams.  This will be a great benefit to the to salmon population.

On this day we had a big decision, highway 101 goes by Cresent Lake with no shoulder and is very unsafe.  We had to either get a car ride past it or take the North side bike path.  A father, with three small children, we met at the start of the trail had been told it was family friendly, it was not.

Here we are in one of the sections that we felt we could take a picture safely.

Here is our camp site.

There were no showers at this campsite but there was Sol Duc hot springs just down the road.  We went there and enjoyed the supherous hot springs and the swimming pool.

We also visited teh Sol Duc water falls.

All in all it was a great day, relatively short in milage allowed us to have a couple of fun side trips into the Olympic National Park.
