Week 54 February 10 - 16, 2014

I have been very busy this week training the new Financial Secretary, Elder Smith.  We didn't take lots of pictures but thanks to our oldest son, Lynn, who is holding down the fort in Antioch, He sent to me the Garmin Edge 605 GPS enabled biking computer.  It was a bit of a chore getting it set up, it didn't come with internal memory for maps, nor does Garmin sell maps for this unit for Japan.  I had to go to wiki.openstreetmap.org to download free maps of Japan and best of all they are free, Garmin wants 100$ each map set.  Well here is the final result on my bike.  Left to right, my high tech warning device for people/bikes in the way, a bike bell, then my 7 LED bike light to notify people ahead of me that I am coming, next is my $20 cateye bike computer (I'll remove this latter when I am more sure of the Garmin), then, my well I'll just say a tad more expensive Garmin Edge GPS enabled bike computer.

In addition to all this handlebar stuff, I have a bigger light the way light on the front wheel fork, a read mounted flashing red LED light to let those behind me know not to run into me.  Of course the necessary bike bag under the seat with extra tube and tools, with a hand bike pump on the cross bar.  Amazing ain't it.

It was transfer week, this week and the bike parking has become crowed with bike enroute to and fro.  Our bike will the among them as we go back to Kumamoto this week, Wednesday or Thursday.  Just put a tag on the handle bar, place the order and the bike appears at the address stipulated on the tag.

In the car this week we came across another example of urban building gardens.

Yes, thos are actual living plants growing on the top half of this building.

Here are some pictures of the Fukuoka temple we took this week.

This is the Temple entrance,

And here is a more distance view of the entryway.  Luetta and I have been called and set apart of Fukuoka Temple workers.  We will continue to return to Fukuoka every 2nd and 4th Saturdays to help with the English sessions.  This should be great fun, In addition to driving we hope to try out the Shinkansen (Bullet Train) once in a while.

Hope your are all cycling through life's great adventure like we are.
